The Beginnings!
Fall Out Boy Early Years ~
Fall Out Boy have been a staple within pop punk and alternative rock culture dating back to about 2001... over 20 years ago! Currently, the band involves their main singer and guitarist Patrick Stump, bassist Pete Wentz, lead guitarist and backing vocalist Joe Trohman and finally drummer Andy Hurley. Since their debut album "Take this to your grave" became a huge success for the band, it has then paved the way for Fall Out Boy to shine against other alternative rock bands. γ½(•‿•)γDuring the early 2000s, Fall Out Boy had started out as a small pop-punk duo consisting of Pete Wentz and Joe Trohman. From Trohman’s recent memoir “None of This Rocks: A Memoir”, he exclaims that with Wentz as the bassist and him taking the role of main guitarist, the band itself lacked a drummer as well as the dire need for a main singer.
Fortunately, Trohman had met Patrick Stump by chance at a bookstore in Wilmette and were able to bond over their enjoyment of the band Neurosis. As their relationship developed, Trohman and Wentz were eventually able to invite Stump over to the band after he had shown his skills in drumming, bassing, guitaring and singing.
What Stump didn’t know then, was that he would become a staple part of the upcoming pop-punk band because of his incredible and undeniably unique voice (which still has the ability to impress people after so many years)!!

Joe Trohman's "None of this rocks" Memoir |
All they were missing now was the infamous drummer, one who could perhaps keep in time with the band. Trohman claims that he had his sights on Andy Hurley as their drummer, known at the time as one of the best drummers in the Chicago and Milwaukee hardcore scenes combined! Everyone had wanted Andy in their band, which had taken Trohman by surprise when Andy Hurley had actually decided to join the promising early incarnation of Fall Out Boy!!
Hurley was able to offer Fall Out Boy the backbone they
needed in order to thrive to become bigger and better. Thrilled with the new
addition to the band, Fall Out Boy were ready to record their first songs and
release them to the world!! <3
