Fall Out Boy Albums ~

This blog post will go into some of Fall Out Boy’s popular albums, when they were released, songs and my personal opinion on each!!

Take This to Your Grave ~ 

Take This to Your Grave is the debut studio album released by Fall Out Boy, the band’s first release under the Fueled by Ramen label. The album was released on May 6, 2003. The record’s title was inspired by the lyrics “Take this to your grave, and I’ll take it to mine”, taken from the track “The Patron Saint of Liars and Fakes” from the album. Some of the most well-known songs featured include:

~ Dead on Arrival
~ Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy
~ Saturday
~ Calm Before the Storm (Take This to Your Grave Version)
~ “Tell That Mick He Just Made My List of Things to Do Today”

Out of probably all Fall Out Boy albums I would rate this one around a 7/10, with my favourite song of the album being Grand Theft Autumn/Where Is Your Boy. This album was able to solidify the band’s unique blend of emotional lyrics, their well-known fast-paced guitar riffs and catchy hooks. It has since become a landmark album within the emo and pop-punk genres. Because of such, many people were able to resonate with the band and their songs as they were praised for relatability and angst-fuelled lyrics.

From Under the Cork Tree ~ 

From Under the Cork Tree is Fall Out Boy’s second studio album, most notable for marking their major label debut. This enabled the band to then breakthrough to mainstream, as well as peak number 1 on both the billboard top 200 and UK albums chart. Released May 3, 2005, almost 2 years after their first debut album. Some of the most notable songs from the album include:

~ Sugar, We’re Goin Down
~ Dance, Dance
~ A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More “Touch Me”
~ XO
~ 7 Minutes in Heaven

I would rate this album a solid 9/10, it scores pretty high due to the feelings of nostalgia it gives me, with my favourite song out of the whole album surprisingly being “A Little Less Sixteen Candles, A Little More Touch Me”. The top two singles of the album “Sugar, We’re Goin Down” and “Dance, Dance” both peaked in the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100, which is pretty self-explanatory as the songs are SO good. The album’s main themes include the feelings of anxiety and depression that goes along with looking at one’s own life, written by bassist Pete Wentz.

Infinity on High ~ 

Infinity on High is Fall Out Boy’s third studio album, experimenting with musical genres outside of pop-punk. Ther album released February 6, 2007. The album features collaborations with guest artists like Jay Z and Babyface and includes unusual instruments for a pop-punk band, like violins, horns and pianos. Some of the most notable songs include:

~ Hum Hallelujah
~ This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race
~ Thnks fr th Mmrs
~ I’m Like a Lawyer with the Way I’m Always Trying to Get You Off (Me & You)

This album would be maybe a 6/10, strictly because the only songs I really enjoy from this album includes Hum Hallelujah, Arms Race and of course, the infamous Thnks fr th Mmrs. The general public LOVED this album following the band’s new musical direction, as well as Stump’s insane vocals once again. Not even a month after its release, the album was certified platinum by the RIAA for sales exceeding one MILLION copies! The album’s lyrics were once again written by bassist Pete Wentz, having taken inspiration from Lil Wayne.
